Lee County Caucus Sites
If you are a registered voter, or will be when turning 18 by Nov. 4, 2008 for the general election, you can participate in the Jan. 3 caucus. But first you have to decide whether you want to attend a Republican caucus or a Democratic one. Then, determine what caucus site to attend based upon where you reside. (And be sure to be there on time, go at 6:30 p.m. so as to be registered by 7 p.m.)
Republican Caucus Sites
n Fort Madison High School, 2001 Ave. B, Fort Madison, for those residing in Fort Madison Wards 1,2,3,4A,5/Madison, Harrison, Jefferson, Charleston, Van Buren and Des Moines Township.
n Pilot Grove Savings Bank Community Room, 506 N. Main St., Donnellson, for those residing in Cedar, Marion and Franklin Townships, Denmark, Green Bay, Washington, West Point and Pleasant Ridge Township or communities.
n Keokuk Senior High School, 2285 Middle Road, Keokuk, for those residing in Keokuk Precincts 1, 2A, 2B, 3,4,5,6,7, Montrose and Jackson Township.
Democratic Caucus Sites
Rather than combining wards the Democrats have designated a caucus site for each city or township precinct in Lee County.
n Fort Madison
First Ward - Union Presbyterian Church, 719 Ave. F.
Second Ward - Lincoln Elementary School, 1326 Ave. E.
Third Ward -Fort Madison Middle School (Cafeteria), 1801 Ave. G.
Fourth Ward A & Ward B - Comfort Inn, 669 Reve Court, Highway 61 South.
Fifth Ward/Madison Township - Richardson School, 3301 Ave. L.
n Townships
Denmark, Green Bay, Washington - Denmark Elementary School, 502 Academy Ave., Denmark
Des Moines, Van Buren & Charleston - Central Lee High School, K-8th Multi-Purpose Room, 2642 Highway 218, Donnellson. Franklin, Marion and Cedar - Youth Center at Lee County Fairgrounds, 1100 N. Main St., Donnellson.
