Fort Madison High School introduced its new varsity football coach today during an assembly.
Todd McGhghy (muh-GACK-y), 37, will be the new coach, replacing Patrick Lamm, who resigned after this past football season.
Although there are McGhghys who played for Keokuk High School in the past, Todd is a 1988 graduate of North Scott High School in Eldridge.
But Todd McGhghy served as defensive coordinator at Keokuk High School from 1996-98.
Most recently, McGhghy was head coach at Iowa Wesleyan College from 2003-05 where he led the Tigers to the most conference wins for the school since 1995.
As a player, Todd earned all-state and all-conference honors as a linebacker and fullback in football and went to state in track as a shot putter.
He went on to play at Iowa Central Community College, where he earned all-conference honors as a linebacker.
Then at Washburn University, he became a Division II All-American and was an all-conference linebacker again. He received numerous professional tryouts.
A photo of McGhghy at the assembly and an interview with the new coach will appear in Thursday's Daily Democrat.
