Hurley B. Gregory

Hurley B. Gregory, 80, of rural West Point, passed away at 7:39 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018, at the Klein Center in West Burlington.  

He was born on June 10, 1938, in Clark County, Mo., to James E. and Bertha M. Moore Gregory.  He married Gloria J. Goldie on Sept. 30, 1967 in Denmark.  

He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1955-1959 where he worked for 2.5 years in Nagoya, Japan at the 6110th U.S.A.F. Hospital.  He came back and worked at Lackland A.F.B. Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.  Afterward, he was a medical tech since 1955 and was a medical lab tech at Granham Hospital in Keokuk, Mercy Hospital in Burlington from 1962-1973, and Fort Madison Community Hospital from 1973, retiring in 1991.  

He co-owned Primary Oil with Phill and Lucy Goldie from 1975-1990 in Wever.  He then was the co-founder of a greenhouse with Ty Louck, where he worked for six years before finally retiring.  He enjoyed watching harness races, hunting, fishing, camping and cooking out for family and friends.

Hurley is survived by his wife, Gloria Gregory of West Point; one sister, Margaret Peak of Peoria, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, three half brothers and one  sister.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, with the family to receive friends 5-7 p.m. Thursday evening at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory, with Rev. Chad Savage officiating.  Burial will be held at Denmark Cemetery.
