The 2017 Women’s March was prompted by Trump’s policy positions and rhetoric, which were considered misogynistic and represented a threat to the rights of women. How right they were. It was at the time the largest single-day protest in U.S. history.

Now we’re living in a country sliding into the Handmaid’s Tale, thanks to the Republicans. Women are having their rights removed in state after state following the de facto destruction of Roe v. Recently, Iowa’s legislature discussed the fetal heartbeat law. The law says abortions are banned, with some exceptions, after a “fetal heartbeat” is detected with an abdominal ultrasound. Stories of heartbreak, injustice, medical emergencies surrounding reproductive healthcare, IVF, and threats of prosecution for traveling to the care women need are cropping up from multiple states around the country. On cross-examination, the men, who are largely behind many of these regressive healthcare laws, reveal they have absolutely no idea how women’s reproductive systems work. Why are they involved?
